Spring and summer in Niedernsill - a fantastic experience!

Niedernsill: undiscovered and untouched. Here, all the impressions that the Austrian mountains left on you during the day, have time to sink in at night. Remote peaks, curling mountainsroads, lush green forests, cristalclear creeks and fancy little towns: in Niedernsill sitting first row is not expensive!

Niedernsill is a charming little town with a little under 2500 inhabitants. It lies at 769m above sealevel in the region of Oberpinzgau, near Zell am See, in Land Salzburg. The town's most important feature is the beautiful church. But it is ofcourse nature herself that steals the show!

Summer acitivities in Niedernsill

Niedernsill may be small, it has a lot to offer! In the summermonths the Tourist Information Center strives to make your holiday into an unforgettable experience. Every day of the week there is another activity for you to participate in, from hikes into the Hohe Tauern to ponyriding for children. Underneath you find a summery of the summer activities-programm. Casa Montana participates in the Fun+ Card Programme, which means that most of the activities as well as the natural Lake and the swimmingpool in Piesendorf are free of charge for our guests. Daily (on request)
- guided hikes into the Hohe Tauern National Park. Don't miss it!
- a trip with a horsedrawn carriage
- a canoe tour on the river Salzach
- nordic walking with a certified coach

Monday: during the day you can enjoy a guided nature walk for the whole family, with Haflinger ponies. At night venture down the Sigmund-Thun-Ravine on the 'Magical Night of Water'.
Tuesday: the adults can participate in the guided 'feelgood-hike' to the meadows high in the mountains, while the kids engage in a water-battle, collect firewood and shoot with bows and arrows on their day as 'Asterix among the Indians'
Wednesday: the childeren can experience a day out of the lives of the Ambisonta people, who lived in this region a thousand years ago and built a dam, bake bread and make fire without matches! Or the whole family can try their luck at the archery introduction course. At night there's the Summer Night Festival in Zell am See.
Thursday: look for dwarves and elves in the forest, collect magical herbs and berries and bake dwarf-bread. An unforgettable adventure for kids!
Friday: join in this special, gastronomic, guided walk from farm to farm and enjoy the fine, local specialties. A highlight of your week! At night sit down, relax and listen to the local Brass Band.
Sunday: ride with the steam train between Mittersill and Zell am See.

The natural lake of Niedernsill is a wonderful place to relax with green meadows, a fountain and a playground. Enjoy a cold drink on the terrace of restaurant Die Libelle.

In Niedernsill you'll find many good restaurants, who offer both local, traditional food as well as international cuisine. From Casa Montana, most restaurants can be reached on foot. We will be happy to make a reservation at Restaurant Die Libelle or the hotels Kehlbachwirt or Kröll.

Central location
The best thing about Niedernsill is and will always be the central location right between Zell am See and Mittersill, at the edge of the Hohe Tauern National Park, connected by the local Pinzgauer Railroad.
