Wintersport in Niedernsil: diverse and fair priced
The central location of Niedernsill makes this little town a unique base from which to explore all the sportive possibilities the region has to offer. In wintertime, the list of 'things to do' is long...Do you have trouble making choices? Aks Willie, she is a skilled and trained snowboardinstructor and (snowshoe/horseriding/hiking)guide and very knowledgeable when it comes to this part of Austria.
Ski and board
Are you a skilled skier and/or snowboarder? Then THE question of the day will be: where to go? There is really no need to go to the same place twice. Like we said before, there are almost too many places to choose from: the Maiskogel and the glacier Kitzsteinhorn in Kaprun, the Areitbahn in Schüttdorf (Zell am See), the Weißseeglacier in Uttendorf, the fancy skiresort Kitzbühel, the Wildkogel Arena at Neukirchen or the famed Skicircus of Saalbach-Hinterglemm are just a few options. You reach all of these skiresorts easily by car. Just go where the weather is best. We recommend the purchase of the Salzburg Super Ski Card to enjoy it all.
Do you have children who want to learn how to ski? We have very good experience with the local skischool Entleitner. They are extremely priceworthy, very children-friendly and flexible. The kids usually start their lessons at the babylift behind Casa Montana. Later in the week, the lessons move to the Nagelköpfl in Piesendorf or the Lechnerberg in Kaprun.
After your fun on the mountain, you can enjoy a drink in our cellarbar 'la Bodega' or out on the terrace. Mind you: our drinks are a lot more affordable than in the big skiresorts!
Hiking
Up in the mountains or down in the valley: nature is best explored on foot. There are hikingtrails everywhere, just ask us where to go.
Snowshoehiking
The latest trend: go where normal hikers can't go! Willie knows all the good places! Let your dog share in the fun.
Cross country ski
Enjoy some peace and quiet on the 42km long cross country ski network in Niedernsill and Piesendorf. The cross country-paradises of Zell am See, Kaprun, Stuhlfelden and Mittersill are just a short drive away. Again, in Niedernsill you'll find yourself right in the middle of it all!
Toboggan, snowtubing and zipflbob
The illuminated tobogann run on the Nagelköpfl in Piesendorf has safetynets from top to bottom! There is a natural toboggan run that starts a brisk walk up the mountain from Casa Montana and runs all the way down to the natural lake. At the Nagelköpfl there is a 300m long snowtubing alley. Music from loudspeakers accompanies you while you race down the mountain in a tube. A Zipflbob is a sort of bobsleigh, but then a lot smaller, so a lot faster! The Nagelköfl team provides a transfer to the start of the run.
Skigliding and paragliding
Especially designed for the Nagelköfl: the sky glider. At 70kmph you and a fellow adventurer glide over the snowtube-alley in a skyglider that runs along a rope and is pulled by a drag rope.
